Therapeutic effects of 9-cis-retinal on retinal degeneration caused by RPE65 defects

在RPE65-/-小鼠眼球后半部分的视网膜外植体实验中，加入杜氏藻提取物后，视网膜感光细胞层的视锥M-opsin蛋白阳性面积明显大于未加入杜氏藻提取物的视网膜光感受器层。这些结果表明，杜氏藻提取物中的9-顺式-b-胡萝卜素被转化为9-顺式视黄醇，随后整合到M-视锥视蛋白中，从而阻止了感光细胞的死亡。

In retinal explant experiment using a posterior half of the eye balls enucleated from RPE65-/- mice demonstrated that the positive area against cone M-opsin protein in the retinal photoreceptor layer showed significantly greater when extract of Dunaliella berdawil was added to the culture media than those without the extract. These results suggested that 9-cis-b-carotene included in the extract of Dunaliella berdawiwas converted into 9-cis-retinal which was subsequently integrated into M-cone opsin and prevented photoreceptor cell death.
