项目摘要

一般に、戦後の台湾は台湾総督府による統治から中華民国による統治への変化にともなって、根本的な断絶を経験したと思われてきた。しかし、最近数年、台湾総督府による統治システムと、中華民国による統治システムの間には、なんらかの形で連続性があるのではないかとする研究が現れている。具体的に述べるなら、1945年に台湾が接収されてから、1967年に主計制度が台湾に再建されるまでの過程で、中華民国政府は台湾総督府の統計調査を理解して受容・再編しつつ、同時に中華民国独自の統計制度を持ち込み、台湾社会における統計システムを整備していったのである。この問題につき、本研究を通じて幾つか新たな知見を得た。雑誌論文については、「戦後台湾国民政府による業務統計システムの接収とその再建（1945-1949）」、「戦後台湾『中華民国台ミン地区戸口普査』の実施」、「他山之石：國民政府在台灣的業務統計體系接收與重建(1945-1949)」、3本を書き上げた。学会発表については、「戰後臺灣主計制度下統計制度之建立(1949-1956)」、「從統計資料看戰前臺灣社會的家計與消費」、2本を発表した。発見された事実としては、戦後中華民国政府は、台湾で「中国化」（制度や言語など、一切中国のものを使う）を行いながら、「去日本化」（戦前の制度や言語などを、一切廃棄する）を行おうとした。しかし、戦前から戦後にかけて統計システムの変遷を見る限り、完全な「去日本化」は無理であった。表面的には戦前の業務統計システムはだんだん消滅するように見えたが、実際にはかならずしもそうではなく、形を変えて中華民国の業務統計システムに引き継がれていることが、本研究によって明らかになった。
