项目摘要

マグリブ（現在のリビア砂漠以西から、チュニジア、アルジェリア、モロッコ、モーリタニアに相当する地域）とアンダルス（イベリア半島において、かつてイスラーム王朝が支配していた地域）の在来キリスト教は、10世紀頃から徐々に衰退し16世紀頃にはほぼ消滅したと言われる。これは、在来キリスト教が今日まで存続するイスラーム圏の他の地域と比べて特異な現象である。本研究課題は、彼らの消滅の要因をアラブの北アフリカ～イベリア半島征服の時代からその後の歴史プロセスを辿ることで探るものである。具体的には、前年度から読み進めていたアラブのマグリブ・アンダルス征服について描かれた年代記、歴史書の解読に取り組んだ。キリスト教徒に関する記述が最も多いためである。しかし初期アラブ歴史書の文学性について研究したNothも指摘するように、年代記、歴史書に描かれた文章は決して事実を反映していない。そこでリエージュ大学のボダン教授を招聘し行われたセミナー「マクリーズィーの作業を肩越しに覗く―中世エジプトの歴史家はどう仕事をしていたのか」で学んだ研究手法を参考に、史料の虚構性がどのようなものであるのかという観点からテキストを再読した。結果、年代記、歴史書のマグリブ・アンダルス征服の描かれ方には、その史料を執筆した作家の個性や出身地に関係なく、作家が活躍した時代ごとに情報の描き方や取捨選択方法に法則があることが分かった。また年代記、歴史書中にキリスト教徒が登場する土地と、アラビア語地理書や、チュニジア調査で視察した教会遺跡やキリスト教徒碑文の分布等、別ジャンルの史料を照らし合わせた。結果、教会遺跡については年代記、歴史書中キリスト教徒が登場する土地と部分的に一致していたが、碑文の分布についてはほぼ一致が見られなかった。原因解明が今後の課題である。なお、上述の研究成果は日本中東学会第31回年次大会にて報告した。
