项目摘要

本研究では，優れた他者に対する脅威を低減することで，妬みなどの否定的な態度を低減する方略を提案する。特に，自己と他者の関係性に注目し，自己が優れた他者に追いつこうとする心のあり方（成長マインドセット）を形成することが，優れた他者に対する認知・感情・行動に及ぼす影響を検討することを目的としている。平成27年度は，成長マインドセットを形成することがキャリア女性に対する認知（ステレオタイプ）を肯定的にすることを明らかにしたが，平成28年度は，とくに感情に焦点を当てた研究を行った。上下の動作が成長マインドセットの形成に有効であるかを検討する実験室実験を行った。具体的には，ホワイトボード上で「自己」と書かれたマグネットを「他者」と書かれたマグネットの位置まで引き上げるような動作を行うことで成長マインドセットを形成した参加者は，自分より優れた結果を得た他者に対して，妬み感情ではなく，羨望を感じやすかった。また，先行研究によって，妬みは他者の不幸を喜ぶシャーデンフロイデと関連しており，他方で，羨望はその後の課題への動機づけを促すことが指摘されている。そこで，成長マインドセットがシャーデンフロイデと動機づけにどのような影響を及ぼすのかも検討した。その結果，成長マインドセットを形成した参加者は，羨望が生起しやすいだけでなく，シャーデンフロイデが生起しにくかった。ただし，動機づけに関しては有意な効果が得られなかった。実際の行動意図に関しては，今後さらなる検討を行う必要があるだろう。以上のような限界点はあるものの，動作によって成長マインドセットを形成することが，さまざまな感情にポジティブな効果をもたらすことが明らかになった。
