项目摘要

今年度は、主として受入研究者を代表者とした外国籍市民調査とEuropean Social Survey(ESS)データを使用して、博士論文を執筆した。移民の同化と経済的達成についての研究では、同化を重視する直線的同化理論(Straight-line Assimilation)とエスニック文化などの指標を強調する分割同化理論(Segmented Assimilation Theory)という二つの異なる知見がある。本研究は、ヨーロッパと日本における移民のデータセットを使って、移民の同化とエスニック文化が彼らの経済的達成に与える影響を検討した。具体的に、European Social Survey (ESS) 5-7を使って、第3章では移民の移住する地域の状況によって、移民の同化と経済的達成の関係が異なるかを検討した。また、European Social Survey (ESS) 7を使って、第4章は移民の移住する地域が不利な場合に、エスニック文化が経済的達成にポジティブな効果を与えるか検討した。最後に、第5章は、日本における移民のデータセットを用い、移民の同化とエスニック文化は、移住する地域の状況によって、彼らの経済的達成に与える効果が異なるかどうかを検討した。分析の結果、移住する地域の状況にかかわらず、移民の同化の指標は、彼らの経済的達成にポジティブな影響を与えることが明らかとなった。これに対して、移住する地域の状況に関係なく、移民のエスニック文化が経済的達成にポジティブな影響を与えないことがわかった。これらの効果は、ヨーロッパと日本では同じである。つまり、本研究により、同化を重視する直線的同化理論(Straight-line Assimilation)が支持されることとなった。博士論文の内容は、現在修正中、国際的学術雑誌への投稿を準備している。
