今年度は主に、1、政治的コネクションを識別するために必要となるデータの収集と打ち込み、および2、得られたデータを用いて企業パフォーマンスと政治的コネクションの関係に関する分析を行った。本研究では、地域間の経済格差を政治的コネクションの観点から説明するために企業のミクロデータを用いる。本企業データで利用可能な地域の一部に関して、政治的コネクションの識別に必要な「政治資金収支報告書」のデータを収集した。また得られたデータの整理を行った。政治的コネクションと地域間の経済格差を分析する前段階として、一部地域にデータセットを制限した上で、政治的コネクションと企業パフォーマンスの関連性を分析した。分析を行った地域は愛知県である。その理由は次の通りである。本研究では政治的コネクションが企業パフォーマンスに及ぼす効果を識別するために、2009年に生じた自由民主党から民主党への政権交代を自然実験として採用し、その前後でDifference in difference分析を行うのだが、同県は政権交代に際して政治的パワーバランスが大きく転換した可能性が高く、分析を行う上で対象とする変数の効果が見られやすいと期待されるからである。分析の結果、政治的コネクションの有無が個別企業のパフォーマンスに影響することを示す証拠は得られていない。データセットの中には政治的コネクションを持つ企業が少なからず見受けられるため、政治的コネクションの有無に関する決定要因に関する分析も行った。この分析では、コネクションの有無は企業の属する産業や個別の性質に大きく依存することがわかった。また、ある企業がコネクションを持つかどうかの決定に関して、他の企業がコネクションを持つことが関連していることが判明した。
