项目摘要

本研究は、マレーシア、ボルネオ島キナバル山の熱帯山地原生林に生息する中・大型哺乳動物の標高に沿った分布を解明し、その分布と餌資源の分布の関係を明らかにすることが目的である。当該年度は、世界的な新型コロナウイルス蔓延のためマレーシアへの渡航ができず、計画していたカメラトラップの回収と小型哺乳動物の毛の持ち帰りがおこなえなかった。そのため、新たなカメラトラップのデータ解析と小型哺乳動物の毛の安定同位体分析を行えなかった。そこで当該年度は、哺乳動物群集が標高と母岩（蛇紋岩、堆積岩）の2つの要因に対してどのような影響を受けるのかを明らかにするために、すでに回収してある1年分のカメラトラップのデータを用いて、哺乳動物の群集解析を行った。その結果、哺乳動物群集は、蛇紋岩でも堆積岩でも標高に沿って、同様に変化していることが明らかになった。果実食者は、標高が高くなるに従って両母岩とも種数が減少し、それぞれの種の撮影頻度も低くなった。一方、肉食者、草食者の種数は、両母岩とも標高に沿って大きく変化せず、撮影頻度については、両母岩とも標高が高くなるにつれて増加する種と減少する種が見られ、標高に沿った種の入れ替わりが起こっていることが明らかになった。果実食者の餌資源である果実は標高に沿って減少し、肉食者の餌資源である土壌動物量や小型哺乳動物の撮影頻度は標高に沿って増加傾向を示すことから、餌資源量が果実食者、肉食者の垂直分布に影響していると考えられる。一方、中標高域の蛇紋岩と堆積岩では、同標高であっても両母岩間で哺乳動物群集が異なった。これは、果実の質や量が母岩によって異なるためだと考えられる。これらのことから、標高に沿った哺乳動物の分布は、母岩に関わらず餌資源の質・量に影響されていることが示唆された。以上の結果について、2021年3月に開催された第68回日本生態学会大会で発表した。

The above results were announced at the 68th Japan Ecological Society Conference in March 2021.
