平成30年度においては、第一に、既発見の全ての契丹大字をリストアップし、重複していないものを選定した。2005年の時点で電子化していた契丹大字は1002個（異体字を数えない）、解読済みのものは397個だったが、2016年時点では、すでに1087個、うち解読済みのもの876個に達している。これらの一部の字体には年代による変化が認められるが、本年度の作業ではそのような異体字のありかたをも含め、あらためて包括的に検討した。ついで、2010年代に発見された9件を含めた契丹大字墓誌19件の解読研究を進めた。第二に、本年度は中国における資料調査を行った。2018年5月7日～20日には、山東省蓬莱（蓬莱閣文物管理所・蓬莱市歴史文化研究会・蓬莱市政府史志事務室）・泰安（泰安市図書館・泰安志博物館）・済南（済南市博物館・山東省図書館）および北京（国家図書館）において、金朝時代の女真大字碑文の発見地及び関連遺跡、契丹時代の西奚に関する地理的、考古学的調査を実施した。ついで11月23日～30日には陝西省西安（柴【穴＋缶】文化博物館）・内蒙古自治区フフホト（内蒙古自治区博物院）・山西省太原（山西省博物院・太原市博物館）において、金朝初期の女真大字および契丹文字の発見地並びに関連遺跡に関する地理的、考古学的調査を実施した。ついで、2019年2月27日～3月5日には安徽省合肥（安徽省博物院・安徽省文化博物館）および北京において、淮河流域における金代の考古学遺跡及び遼代の契丹文字の新資料に関する地理的、考古学的調査を実施した。

In the 30th year of Heisei, the first one was selected, and the whole Khitan character was selected.
