本研究は、日本における人的資本の特殊性と、米国とのその差異を明らかにすることを目的としている。2018年度までには、企業内部の経験が賃金上昇に与える影響を明らかにしており、「企業内部の経験を通じた賃金リターンは先行研究のものと比べて有意に小さく、職種経験年数を考慮した場合も変わらない。この結果は、様々なサブサンプルや計量手法を用いた推定について頑健である。」という結果を得ている。2019年度は、まず上記の分析結果をまとめた論文を学術雑誌へ投稿している。また、この分析により「最近の日本の労働市場においては、相対的に企業と労働者間の相性の重要性が増している」という示唆が得られたことを受け、日本の労働市場における人材配置に注目した分析を行った。日本の労働市場は企業間の労働者移動が海外に比べて少ないため、今年度は特に新卒採用に注目し、「初職がその後の成果に与える因果効果」について分析した。先行研究では、日本の労働市場において、不景気により初職で正社員になれなかったことはその後長期に渡り雇用確率に負の影響を与えることが明らかになっているが、その効果には個人間で異質性が存在する可能性がある。効果の異質性を明らかにすることで、効率的な政策介入が期待できるため、この分析では、これまで明らかになっている初職の効果が、どのタイプの労働者にどの程度の期間持続するのかを明らかにすることを目的としている。分析により、現在暫定的に以下の結果を得ている。(1) 学歴は初職で正社員になる確率には影響を与えるが、その後の成果には有意な影響を与えない、(2) 初職で正社員になることの効果は、個人間で有意な異質性は見られないものの、その効果は初職で正社員に採用されづらい人ほど大きい傾向がある。
