项目摘要

本年度はマルサス学会とIGSセミナーにおいて、二回の研究報告を行なった。前者は「19世紀ブリテンにおける社会主義と女性：J.S.ミルとウィリアム・トンプソンを中心に」と題した報告で、前年度に社会思想史学会で報告した内容を、その場で受けた質問・コメントを下に大幅に拡充したものである。後者は「J.S.ミルにおけるデモクラシーと女性参政権」と題した報告で、近年国際的に注目されている共和主義者ミルという解釈に、トマス・カーライルの「黒人問題」との対比から根本的な異議申し立てを試みるものであった。また、前者の内容は、マルサス学会で受けた質問とコメントを下に改訂し同志社大学で行われた国際会議において"Women and Cooperative Society in 19th Century Britain: J.S.Mill and William Thompson ”と題した英語での報告を行った。本報告の内容はさらに改訂され、「ジョン・スチュアート・ミルにおける協同社会と女性：同時代の社会主義者ウィリアム・トンプソンとの対比を中心に」として『マルサス学会年報』29号に掲載が決定している。また前年度に掲載が決定されていた「J.S.ミルにおける女性の性格形成：シドニー・スミス「女性教育」との対比を手がかりに」『社会思想史研究』43号に対して社会思想史学会第９回研究奨励賞（2019年度）が与えられた。
