项目摘要

2019年度中に親切行動の動機づけに着目した3つの比較文化研究を実施した。具体的には，外部からの強制によって動機づけられた親切行動が行為者の感情に対してどのような影響を与えているのかについて検討することを目的とした。親切行動を行う外部の強制として，受け手の期待 (以下，他者期待) に着目した。研究１では，親切行動に対する他者期待がポジティブ感情に与える影響は文化によって異なることが明らかとなった。アメリカ人の場合，高い他者期待を認知した者ほど，自律性欲求の充足が低くなり，ポジティブ感情が減少したが，日本人の場合，有能性欲求の充足が高くなり，ポジティブ感情が高まったという対照的な結果が得られた。研究2では，他者の期待を実験的に操作した結果，他者期待高群は，他者期待低群に比べ，基本的心理欲求の充足が低く，ポジティブ感情が減少したことが明らかとなった。しかし，文化差が認められ，高い他者期待によるポジティブ感情の減少はアメリカに比べて，日本では小さかった。さらに，道徳観の役割を検討した結果、コミュニティ倫理を重視する参加者の場合，日本人同様の結果が示された。研究3では，実際の親切行動を実験課題として組み込むことで研究結果の妥当性を高めることを目的とした。実験の結果，ポジティブ感情に対して，他者期待の有意な影響は示されなかったものの，親切行動に費やす努力に関して，文化の違いが認められた。具体的には，アメリカでは他者期待が高い場合に努力が減少したのに対して，日本では，逆の傾向がみられた。この3つの研究を通して，アメリカに比べて，日本では，他者の期待をより内在化していることが示唆され，親切行動を行う動機づけの効果は文化特有である可能性が明らかとなった。
