项目摘要

本年度の活動として、まず研究遂行に必要な文献の収集を継続的に進めた。冬期における英国での調査を含め、前年度の作業で漏れていた重要な一次史料および二次資料を多数入手することが出来た。前年度の研究の主軸であった演説作品の分析は、本年度も作業の中心となった。アンドロニコス2世期の称賛演説を総合的に観察した前年度の成果を応用し、その前後の皇帝、すなわちミカエル8世とアンドロニコス3世の治世に作成された作品に対象を拡大し、それらの内容の精査と様式上の分類を行った。その結果、演説家たちが頌辞起草時にその様式を選択する際の原則が、これらの時代の作品にも適用しうることを確認した。本成果は、11月に開催された西洋史研究会大会にて「パライオロゴス朝初期ビザンツ帝国（1261-1341）における頌辞の朗誦」の題で口頭報告した。一方、当該時期の演説家たちの中には必ずしも同原則に該当しない者がいることも判明し、またテクストの欠損故にその作成背景が十分に検討できない演説作品もあった。従って、こうした後期ビザンツ帝国における頌詞の朗誦という慣行を巡ってはさらなる考究の余地があると言え、研究員の今後の課題として残された。また、2020年6月時点で掲載や刊行には至っていないが、年度内に2本の論文を執筆した。一方はアンドロニコス2世治下の制度史に関するものであり、他方は前年度に詳細な検討を行った彼の1290/1-1293年における巡幸と、彼の下で宰相を務めたテオドロス・メトキテスのキャリアに関するものである。以上に加え、ラテン語史料の共訳プロジェクトに参加したほか、和書1件と洋書1件についてそれぞれ新刊紹介記事を執筆した。
