项目摘要

「来舶清人」とよばれる江戸から明治時代にかけて来日した中国・清時代の文人たちの書画作品の調査を主体とする本課題は、2022年度も新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染状況が一進一退を繰り返すなかで、新規の調査対象開拓は控え、おもにこれまで実施してきた調査先での追加調査をおこなった。明治初期に大阪で来舶清人の活動を支援した森琴石の子孫にあたる個人宅では、これまでに調査した中国書画に加えて、琴石が中国絵画を臨摸した下絵類を集中的に調査した。そのなかに伊孚九や陳逸舟、沈萍香らの山水図の写しがあり、琴石が直接交流した清人よりも時代が上る画人たちからも積極的に画法を学んだことがわかった。前年度21年に調査した京都・個人では、明治期の東京に逗留した羅清による指頭画の山水図を実見した。為書きは消されていたものの款記から東京で制作したことがわかる作例として貴重で、指で画くという特技で引き合いがあったことがうかがえるものであった。また、篆刻家であった京都・個人では明治後期に来日した呉石僊の山水図の大きな未表装作品を発見。西洋画法も習得したとされるこの画家については大阪・個人でも扇面作品を調査できた。なお、岡山の野﨑家塩業歴史館での調査は「備前児島の野﨑家に伝わる文化財の総合調査」（研究代表者：永島明子氏）と相乗りで実施し、「新南画」をはじめとする明治・大正期の日本の文人画における中国趣味を確認した。感染状況の急変にそなえて、所蔵者対応を要しない展覧会の参観調査も積極的におこなった。22年は黄檗宗の祖である隠元隆琦の350回目の年忌にあたることから黄檗美術の展覧会が数多く開催され、長崎歴史文化博物館や滋賀・観峰館の展示では長崎や近江といった個々の地域が黄檗宗によってつながってゆく様相が理解できた。このほか、東京の久米美術館や松岡美術館では、コレクションのなかにある来舶清人作品を参観できた。
