A spoken corpus of foreign patient narratives for nursing English

I recruited an additional 8 patient narratives from foreign-born residents. There are now 38 narratives in the corpus. Audio files and transcripts are now freely available for use with nursing and other medical students on the project website (https://sites.google.com/st.fukujo.ac.jp/nonjapanesepatientnarratives).A preliminary analysis of the narratives found foreign & immigrant patients holding different expectations related to three areas: privacy, informed consent, and mental health support.I revised the 15-week, narrative-based course for fourth-year nursing students, sharing the listening transcripts and adding a role-play in which students advocate for the patient in the narrative. I have received requests for access to the narratives from other nursing English instructors.
