この科研プロジェクト初年のH30年度からR2年度までの2年間で、数多くの広島・長崎被爆者、その関連のボランティア団体、そして研究分担者である長崎大学原爆後障害医療研究所の朝長名誉教授と三根客員教授の手厚い指導と協力のお陰で、被爆者インタビューを行い、それを録音し、そして沢山の関連資料を集めることができました。まとめていうと、国内・海外の公では私の研究が反響し続けていますが、コロナ禍により、この科研の中心であるフィールドワーク（被爆者インタビューまたは被爆者団体の活動を観察すること）調査がこの１年間でできていないのが非常に残念と思います。しかし、その間に、静岡大学では書籍や一時的書類を通して歴史的な背景を研究し続けながら、このプロジェクトのまとめとしての本を書いています。R3年度から始まったコロナ禍影響でこの科研の中心でであるはずのフィールドワーク（被爆者インタビューまたは被爆者団体の活動を観察すること）調査が２年間でできていないのが非常に残念と思います。しかしながら、私はこのような困難な状況でも時間を無駄にすることなく、この2年間を集中的な執筆活動の場としています。その結果、R4年2月、米出版社ペンギン・ランダムハウスと私の被爆者研究についての2巻セットを出版するような契約を結びました。第1巻の原稿はすでにR4年11月に完成して、2024年に出版される予定です。第2巻は、現在執筆中で、2025年に出版される予定です。タイトルは『Embers（残火）： 広島と長崎の最後の目撃者たち』です。並行的に、R4年に「Routledge Handbook of Trauma in East Asia」という学術書の編集者に、被爆者のトラウマに関する章を投稿するよう依頼されたこともあり、夏中に原稿を完成して、R5年に出版されました。私の投稿は、編集者の序章のすぐ後に、この本の中で最初に置かれるほど重要なものとみなされました。
