本研究では、こころの歴史性とコスモロジカルな境界、および心理学的な境界という観点から異界と怪物を巡る表象の歴史的変化に分析を加えることによって、現代意識の持つ特徴を本質的に捉え直し、現代日本の青年たちが抱える心理‐社会的課題を理論的・深層心理学的かつ実践的・心理臨床学的に見直そうとするものである。思想的研究は心理臨床実践や個別具体的な体験の世界と遊離しがちであり、心理臨床的・実践的研究は私たちのこころをとりまく集合的な文脈である文化・精神史的な背景を見過ごしやすい。本研究の挑戦的な意義は、集合的文脈と個別性の次元を架橋する試みにある。研究初年度である2021年度は当初の予定通り、大学院生を中心とする研究協力者を募り、研究体制の基盤作りを進めた。この研究グループによって継続的に研究会を実施するなかで、<異界表象>および人間の精神史・心性史という思想的文脈に関する資料収集・整理、文献サーベイを進めた。さらに、前近代的な<異界表象>のあり方を捉えるためのフィールド調査地を近畿圏を中心に選定し、フィールドワーク調査を実施した。二年目である2022年度は、新型コロナウイルス感染症がいまだ収束の兆しを見せず、それに伴って研究グループで密度の濃い作業を実施することが困難であった。そのため、現代の<異界表象>を分析するための「座標軸」を仮説的に議論・検討していく作業はその途上となっている。ただし、前近代的な＜異界表象＞についてのフィールドワークを昨年度の近畿圏よりも拡大して青森県下北半島および和歌山県高野山にて実施し、その現代的意義に関する深層心理学的な検討を加えることができた。今後はそれを青年の社会化と心理的境界に関する調査研究や臨床事例研究につなげることが課題である。
