本研究では、度々議論の的となることがある手書き頻度の減退（タイピング頻度の増加）が日本語の漢字の認知に影響するのか。また、影響があるのなら、どのように漢字の処理が影響されるのか調べることを目的としている。過去の心理言語学研究から、漢字の認知時に部首等の部品も活性化されているという理解が一般的なため、そのような漢字処理モデルに基づいて、全体的な処理と分析的な処理のバランスが個人差によって変化するのか多変量解析手法（一般化加法混合モデル）によって検証する。漢字と非漢字を区別する漢字認知実験(事前テスト)の後、書字行動(漢字の書取り、もしくは漢字のタイピング)を行い、再び漢字認知実験(事後テスト)をすることで、異なる書字行動を求められた2つのグループの間に事後テストにおいて漢字認知のパフォーマンスに違いが出るのかを検証する。加えて、参加者の日常的な書字習慣(手書きとタイピングの割合)が漢字認知(事前テストおよび事後テスト)にどのように影響するのか検証する。一昨年（一年目）はパイロットテストを行いながら、実験の詳細を固めた。昨年（二年目）はPsychoPy を用いて実験のプログラミングを終了し、対面実験（一人一回90分）を開始した。データ収集と同時に、データ分析を見据えて、一般化加法モデルに関して学習を重ねている。

This study shows that the frequency of handwriting decreases and affects the cognition of Japanese characters. The processing of Chinese characters affects the processing of Chinese characters.
