2022年度は、【研究項目①：VGP能力保持者の選定】を引き続き実施するとともに、【研究項目②：VGPの脳機能計測による精神性立毛の神経基盤の解明】に着手した。【研究項目①：VGP能力保持者の選定】随意的な立毛生成能力（Voluntary generated piloerection: VGP）についてのweb調査、VGP能力を検証する郵送調査の２段階でVGP保持者を特定している。今年度も前年度に引き続き自薦での募集を行い、新規に4名のVGP候補者を特定し、うち3名についてはVGP能力の保持がほぼ確認された。これにより、今年度末時点でVGP保持者の総数は23名となり、目標とする40名に向けた進捗状況は良好である。【研究項目②：VGPの脳機能計測による精神性立毛の神経基盤の解明】実験系の精緻化を進めるとともに、7名のVGP保持者を対象に脳機能計測実験を実施した。実験系の精緻化については、生理学研究所保有の高磁場対応カメラの設置方法にノイズ低減を目的とした変更があり（MRI検査室に組み込み）、新たに立毛の映像記録試験を実施した。この結果、設置方式の変更により従来より高品質な立毛データが得られることを確認した。脳機能計測実験については、当初計画では、感情喚起を操作した条件下でVGPを実行し、立毛やその随意的生成に関わる脳活動だけでなく、VGPを促進する感情関連の脳活動の検討も予定していた。しかし、VGP保持者の多くは感情経験による立毛生成の促進を報告しなかったため、単純なVGP実行課題で立毛とその随意的生成に関連する脳活動を検討した。VGP保持者はMRIスキャナ内で随意的立毛の実行と安静状態を30秒ずつ交互に繰り返し、この間の脳活動と立毛反応を同時に計測した。次年度も新たに特定されたVGP能力保持者を対象とした実験を行い、集団解析のために30名超の有効データの取得を目指す。
