本研究では、新興国ジャカルタの「成熟」をめぐる中心的な問いとして、以下の３つの問いの解明を目標として掲げている。1. 人口流入が鈍化し、住民の多くが首都圏流入後の第二、第三世代以降となったことで、住民の居住パターンや家族形成のあり方、学歴や職業等はどう変わったか。2. 上記の諸変化は、広大な首都圏都市域において、地域的に顕著な差があるだろうか。3. 物理定な居住環境から見えるセグリゲーションを超えて、新世代に共通の生活様式や、相互援助や共同性を生み出しているか。初年度（2021年度)は、その解明の手段として、政府の基幹統計の一つである村落潜勢力調査(PODES)に絞り、21世紀最初の20年間の首都圏の全町村別統計データを、地理情報システムでテーマ地図として可視化・分析することを決めた。2022年度は、2000年、2010年、2020年のPODESデータを整理して実際に約1000枚の地図化した（4月から8月）。次に1000枚の地図を同年度および通年で並べ、8人の研究者で集中的に検討・議論し、重要なテーマ地図とそうでない地図の選別を行った（8月末）。研究成果の発表手段として、選別した地図をもとに、21世紀の20年間の首都圏の変化を数百のテーマ地図で示すアトラスを出版することを決定した。アトラスに掲載する地図の種類と論理的構成、また変化（「成熟」と「発展」）を説明する理論と枠組みについて、一月に一度の研究会を重ねながら議論を深めた(9月から1月)。2月に再度8人の研究者が集まり、アトラスの章構成、見出し、各章が全体で持つ理論上・構成上の意味、章の解説文の執筆分担者を決定した。これにより、2023度中に最低でもアトラスの原稿の完成、可能であれば出版にまで到達し、本研究事業の成果として世に問う予定である。書名は『ジャカルタ・アトラス：地図でみる都市の発展と成熟』と決めている。

This study is aimed at clarifying the three questions in the center of "maturity" in the new country. 1. The population flows into the capital, the population flows into the capital. 2. In the first year (2021), the means of interpretation, the basic statistics of the government, the village potential survey (PODES), the statistics of all villages in the capital region in the first 20 years of the 21st century, and the geographical information system were analyzed. About 1000 PODES were collected in 2022 (April to August). The next 1000 samples were collected in the same year, and 8 researchers focused on the discussion, discussion, and selection of important samples (end of August). The research results are presented in the form of a selection of geographical information, and are published in the form of hundreds of geographical information in the 21st century.
