本研究の問いは、①北朝鮮社会における生活世界のジェンダー規範はどのようなものなのか、体制側はドラマ/映画を通してどのような理想像を示し、それを体制維持につなげてきたのか？②長年同じ家父長制文化を有してきた南北のジェンダーは、分断後どのように変化してきたのだろうか？共通点があるとすれば、それはどのような点なのか？というものである。これらの問いを究明するために、①北朝鮮のドラマ/映画を視聴・分析し、それぞれのジェンダー的特徴を考察する。②朝鮮半島の家父長制の現代的変容という視点から、北朝鮮ドラマ/映画と韓国ドラマとを比較し、ジェンダー特徴の共通点と相違点を探ることである。本年度は、当初、60～70年代の映像に焦点を当てる予定だったが、この時代の韓国ドラマは視聴が難しく、文献調査を中心に行なわざるをえなかった。また、北朝鮮のドラマについても、視聴が可能だったのは70年代末以降のものに限られた。さらに、比較の軸としての分析枠組みや分析ポイントを設定するのが容易ではなく、方法論的な考察を深める必要があった。これらの問題と格闘しつつ、本年度は以下の作業を行った。①映像及びジェンダーに関する北朝鮮研究（論文及び書籍）を中心に収集し、学習した。②北朝鮮の映像の収集及びリスト化作業。③北朝鮮の映像と比較するための韓国の初期の映像（50年代の映画と80年代ドラマ）を収集・視聴し、分析作業を行った。80年代のドラマ「半分の失敗」（24話）については、映像を購入することができた。さらに、韓国の清州市にオープン（2020年）した金秀賢ドラマアートホールを訪問し、韓国ドラマの歴史的理解を深めることができた。④とりわけ③に関する研究内容を講演などを通して発表した。⑤K-Gender 研究会活動の継続。⑥次年度の国際学会でのパネル発表の準備、などを行った。
