本研究では、フランスの国立ゴブラン製作所に関して、20世紀初頭に所長を務めたギュスターヴ・ジェフロワ主導による、タピスリー近代化への刷新運動の歴史的評価を検証することを主眼としている。本調査を進めるための具体的な手続きとして、二つの観点を設けている。すなわち第一に、ジェフロワ時代の製作所の運営方針やその間製作された作品群の歴史的評価を、主に一次史料の掘り起こしや実作品の考察に基づいて、ジェフロワ以前・以後の製作所の歴史の中で相対的に捉えること、第二に、フランスの公的芸術の生成を担う国家機関として役割にその活動が規定・制限される製作所の活動を、同時代の私営工房の活動や個人メセナの支援によるタピスリー制作活動と比較検討することである。５カ年計画の２年目にあたる本年度は、前年度に引き続き、研究の基盤となる資料収集とその整理・分析に注力した。収集にあたっては、予定していたフランス本国での現地調査がコロナ感染拡大による海外渡航の制限により実施不可となったため、日本から入手できる二次文献やネット上で公開されている各研究機関のデータベースを活用した情報の収集が主となった。これらの二次文献は、上記、調査手続きの第二点目に関するもので、この整理・分析により、20世紀の欧米のタピスリーや壁画を主とする大規模装飾の歴史とその研究動向を把握することができた。本年度は、上記の作業を論文等の具体的な成果物としてまとめることができなかった為、次年度の課題としたい。ただし、当該研究テーマに関連する派生的なトピックについて、以下のエッセイとしてまとめる機会を得た（「アンリ・マルタンの壁画装飾：その全容と歴史的意義に関する一考察」『SOMPO美術館 研究紀要』第1号、2023年、pp. 31-51.）。
