令和5年5月現在、新型コロナウイルス感染症は2類感染症から5類感染症にその類型が変わり、行政における罹患者への対応もそれに応じて季節性インフルエンザ同等の対応となった。本研究は予防接種行政を司る全国の市区町村が新型コロナウイルス感染症が流行しており、かつ、2類感染症であった令和4年度において行われた子宮頸がん予防ワクチンの定期接種化および3年間の時限対応としているいわゆるキャッチアップ接種の開始など、行政への業務負担についてその負担が増加したことについて、定期接種化とキャッチアップ接種に関する周知等について新型コロナウイルス感染症対応がこの周知業務に影響があったかについて検討を行うことから開始した。前述のように、感染症法の改正により令和4年4月より子宮頸がん予防ワクチンの定期接種化が開始されたが、本研究の目的達成のため当初の計画を年度を繰り上げ前倒し調査を行い、自治体でのCOVID-19対応と接種案内（問診票等郵送）の状況や予算に関して全国1741自治体を対象に質問紙を送付した。その結果、全自治体の約65％から回答を得た。この結果から、令和4月より開始された定期接種化の案内が自治体間で定期接種案内の時期にばらつきがあること、また、その理由は接種案内の発送時期や期限が国より示されていないことにより自治体独自の判断を行っていたことが明らかになった。一方で、COVID-19対応のために遅延したと回答した自治体の割合は10％以下であった。以上の知見を2つの学術集会にてに発表した。現在は令和5年4月から開始された子宮頸がん予防ワクチン（9価）についての周知等について質問紙調査の準備を行っている。また、テキストマイニングにより接種主体である自治体の課題が客観的に把握できている。これらの結果から予防接種率を向上させる要因と抑制する要因についておよその解析が完了している。
