本研究の目的は、高等学校における精神保健教育の現状（精神保健教育に対する認識や認識に影響する要因）を明らかにし、教員のニーズに合った最適な介入や具体的な支援等、教員に対する支援モデルを検討することである。研究の意義として、高等学校の教員への適切な介入が行われることで、教員の準備性が高まり、生徒への適切な教育につなげていくことが出来るのではないかと考える。また、教員が児童青年期にある生徒に対して適切な精神保健教育を行うことで、生徒が適切な精神保健に関する知識を身に付け、セルフケア能力が高まることで精神疾患を抱えることを予防し、精神疾患の早期発見や早期対応、さらには、精神疾患に対する差別や偏見の減少につながると考える。令和4年度～令和6年度、3年をかけて混合研究法（アンケート調査、インタビュー） を行うこととし、令和4年度は「高等学校における精神保健教育の現状と支援モデルの検討～WEBアンケート調査～」を研究テーマとし、研究を開始した。WEBを用いたアンケート調査は、委託業者に依頼し、高等学校に勤務する教員免許を持った教員を対象に行うこととした。調査項目は、1）基本情報、2）精神保健教育に関する認識、3）生徒とのかかわり、4）精神保健教育の体制、5）今後の精神保健教育に対する考えとした。2）では、現在の教員の精神保健教育に関する認識を調査するために、令和4年度改訂の高等学校の保健体育の教科書「新高等保健体育」および「現代高等保健体育」を参考にし、（1）精神疾患の特徴、（2）精神疾患の予防、（3）精神疾患からの回復に分けて調査することとした。現在、WEBアンケート調査の開始時期を令和5年度に変更し準備を進めている。
