2022年度実績：研究組織として会議を2回招集し、役割分担と研究スケジュールを確認した。1年目は文献検討と海外視察をすることで、次年度の調査方法を精査検討することしていた。文献検討については、現在進行途中であり、6～7月の完了を目指して進めている。現在36の海外文献を検討している最中である。現時点では、「死にまつわるコミュニケーション」の概念で定まったものはないようである。しかし、いくつかコミュニケーションの在り方に示唆的な論文があるため、その点をまとめていきたい。海外視察による研究方法の精査について、死にまつわるコミュニケーションを中心に、具体的にどのような内容にするかの示唆を得た。海外視察では急性期病院と老人ケア施設での、死にまつわる対話やその在り方、医療者への教育方法の意見交換を行った。その結果、医療者は死を自然なこととして受けて止めている考え方が主流であり、死が近づいた中で、患者から死への不安や恐怖、スピリテュアルな言動がみられた時には、「思いを吐露させる関り」「悲嘆を慰めるように、抱擁（ハグ）などで、だまって抱きしめる」などの対応を多くとってることが分かった。そのため死にまつわるコミュニケーションの在り方の教育を考えるときには、言語的なコミュニケーションに偏らないこと、非言語的コミュニケーションに十分着眼するすることの示唆を得た。また専門家とアドバンスケアプランニング（ACP）についての意見を交換を行った。海外の既存のPOLST（Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment ）という事前指示のシステムと専門家の介入について、知見を得た。そのため今後の研究計画の方向性は確定しつつあり、文献検討結果と合わせて、研究計画をより精緻に作り上げる予定である。
