本年度は、予定通り、非組織的宗教が関わった詐欺事件とそれ以外の詐欺事件に対する法的対策の比較を行い始め、特に、1980年代に「霊感商法」が初めて問題として現れた同時代に起きた他の事件との共通点や相違点を検討することにした。架空のものやサービスへの投資という経済的な行動における合法性と違法性の線引きが弁護界で議論され始められた時代であったことを指摘し、「霊感商法」の出現を社会経済の歴史的文脈の中に位置づけることで、「霊感商法」はそもそもなぜ消費問題として扱われることになったか、明らかになった。具体的に説明すると、「霊感商法」が消費者問題として扱われるようになったのは、1980年代半ば、当時に見られた他の仕組み（例えば、先物取引の事件としての豊田商事事件）と類似していたことに起因している。 これらの商法は、「事業者の真の目的の隠蔽」と「消費者の感情操作」という2つの理由で問題視された。しかし、豊田商事という事件のように、消費者に約束されたものやサービスが存在しないことを証明するのは簡単だが、「霊感商法」の消費者が実在しないサービスを購入するように騙されたと主張するのはより難しいということであった。令和４年度の調査活動は、主に、消費者問題関連の雑誌（『消費者法ニュース』など）の講読や「霊感商法」事件を専門的に扱っている弁護士へのヒアリング（計5回）だった。また、令和4年度の成果の一部は2022年11月に出版された単著の第6章で扱うことにし、国際学会にて3回、国内学会にて2回、発表した。
