本研究の目的は、現代世界における極めて多様な様相を持つキリスト教の一面である教義中心主義と教義相対主義の相関もしくは相克の実態を解明することにより、キリスト教理解の新たな視座を開拓し、さらには複雑かつ多面的に展開されてきた現在のキリスト教教義について神学的・教義学的観点から将来的な方向性を予測しつつ新たな理解を提示することである。そのため当該年度は第一課題であるハルナックの「非教義的キリスト教」とボンヘッファーの「非宗教的キリスト教」を扱うことで、その基礎部分を解明することを目指したが、調査過程において本研究計画を遂行するために必要な、別途詳細に論じるべき課題を発見するに至った。すなわち現代のキリスト教教義において再注目されている「聖霊論」を根本から論じ直すことが、本研究の柱の一つとして不可欠であるとの認識を得た。聖霊論にも一定の重点を置かなければ、最終年度に着手予定である、教義相対主義と教義絶対主義の総合的観点を構築すること、すなわちシュライアマハー、ハルナック、ボンヘッファーの系譜すなわち学術的神学における教義理解とアーヴィングから現代福音派に至る教義中心主義の複雑な交錯状況に多角的な理解を展開することが難しくなるということである。このため現代のキリスト教の実相を複雑化させていると目される聖霊論自体の複雑性、殊に神・キリストの霊と聖霊との不分明性に着目し、これを教義学的に批判するべく、聖書の段階にまで遡及しつつ、シュライアマハー、カール・バルトにおける聖霊の不分明性の総合的な捉え直しを行った。その結果、聖霊論にはキリスト論以上の意見の相違や幅があり、それにもかかわらずキリスト論のような異端論争を呼び起こすことは少ないとの結論に至った。
