项目摘要

研究計画に従い初年度は各機関・施設の資料所蔵状況の調査を中心に進めた。研究計画では九州地方での資料調査・収集を予定していたが、コロナ禍ということもあり、地方の機関・施設は閲覧の予約や時間確保が難しかったり、私設のものは閉鎖となるなどの事情から十分な活動が行えず、もっぱら関東圏での調査・収集（九州の劇団の浅草興行）を行った。以上の研究の成果として、本年度は単著１、論文２がある。単著『ローシー・オペラと浅草オペラ――大正期翻訳オペラの興行・上演・演劇性』では、大正期のオペラの特徴として翻訳オペラと興行化に注目し、二つのオペラ団――ローシー・オペラとオペラ座――の東京・関西での公演活動を対象に観客と演劇環境（特に興行と法制度）の観点から検証するとともに、上演台本の分析を行い、大正期特有のオペラ受容と展開を明らかにした。論文「商業演劇としての「俄」とドラマ性――佐賀俄・筑紫美主子劇団を中心に――」では、民俗芸能としての「にわか」と商業演劇としての「にわか」の相違を、筑紫美主子劇団をもとに「ドラマ性」の観点から検証した。論文「剣劇を再考する――誕生とジャンルの特性――」では、大衆演劇を代表する演劇ジャンルである「剣劇」の殺陣と暴力性に注目し、新国劇の設立と初期作品を検証した。これらの学術的な研究成果とは別に、研究成果の社会還元としてテレビ番組『歴史探偵』（ＮＨＫ総合、８月１０日放送）、テレビドラマ『アイドル』（ＮＨＫ総合、８月１１日放送）に対して、近現代日本演劇研究者として、昭和戦時期の軽演劇を中心とする商業演劇に関する知見と資料の提供を行った。
