本研究は教材開発の準備として、楽譜を読むための難易度が高すぎず、歌い易いコラールを目的とした、主旋律、副旋律、ハーモニー、伴奏の全てを網羅する教材(練習曲)を開発するため、Johann Sebastian Bach, 389 Chorales for four-part mixed chorus, Breitkopf , 2000より抜粋した30曲をバリ・チューバアンサ ンブルに編曲に着手し、8月に一旦の作成を完了することができた。そこで新潟県長岡市の社会団体に楽譜を読んでもらい、10月には四重奏の形態で５人の奏者にローテーションを行いながら、演奏による実験を行うこととしていたが一人の被験者（ユーフォニアム奏者）が転勤のため４人で演奏するパートを固定（第一ユーフォニアム、第二ユーフォニアム、第一チューバ、第二チューバにそれぞれ固定）して行うこととした。まず１曲を演奏した際、ぞれぞれの奏者による基礎的奏法が不十分な状態であったことが分かり、まずは個人による奏法を再確認して向上させ るための指導を行った。講習内容は①奏者の演奏技術を確認(呼吸，アンブシュア「楽器を吹くときの口の作り方」)②リズムを中心とした練習曲の使用法とリズム講習③振り返り、改善・調整、音階およびリズムの修正の３点である。そして個々の演奏解釈を４人で共通認識するために③の練習曲を使用しユニゾン（高さが同じ２音間の音程）による演奏を指示し、指導を行った。これらの作業は、次年度においても反復による継続を行うこととし、それが定着することで、奏者が音符や楽曲に関しての理解が深まり、且つ演奏技術への復調そしてさらなる向上に繋がるものと考えている。
