初年度にあたる2022年度（令和４年度）は基礎調査と資料収集を中心に活動を進める予定であったが、いくつかの研究実績を上げることができた。最初に挙げるのが、２０２２年７月に開催されたシンポジウム「デザインミュージアムのヴィジョン」における研究発表である。報告者は、神奈川大学人文学研究所とデザイン史学研究会が共同で主催したこのシンポジウムに準備段階からかかわり、「ICOM職業倫理規定と日本のデザインミュージアム」と題する発表を行ったほか、企画や他のパネリストの人選なども行った。このシンポジウムの報告は2023年度にデザイン史学研究会の機関誌に発表される予定である。また11月には、日本デザイン団体協議会（D-8）が主催する展示会「ジャパンデザインミュージアム構想　池袋街中まるごとデザインミュージアム」の展示を監修し、講演会での発表を行った。研究成果の出版に関しては、6月に出版した単著『ミュージアムの教科書‐進化する博物館と美術館』では全10章のうち1章をデザインミュージアム論に費やしたほか、9月に出版した共著『図説デザインの歴史』でもデザインミュージアムを念頭に置いた詳説を執筆した。コロナウイルスの感染拡大による渡航制限もあって、当初は現地（プラハ）での参加を希望していたICOM（国際博物館会議）総会への出席がオンライン参加となるなど、初年度の海外調査は難しい状況であったが、年度末近くになってオランダでの現地調査の機会を得た。デザインミュージアムの研究に当たっては、ミュージアムの定義を考察する理論的な側面と、その実現を目指すための社会的な活動の側面があるが、2022年度にはその両面において一定の業績を上げることができた。2年目に当たる2023年度は、以上の成果を踏まえて、引き続き精力的に活動していく所存である。
