これまで明らかにされてこなかった各市町村に設置された避病院・隔離病舎について、その実態の解明を目的としていいる。今年度は岡山県に設置された避病院や隔離病舎についての資料の残存状況の情報を収集し、実際に資料を調査・確認し、撮影を行った。調査機関としては、岡山県立図書館、岡山県記録資料館、岡山市立中央図書館、倉敷市歴史資料整備室、井原市まほろば歴史館、旧中央町誌編さん室、瀬戸内市立図書館、旧奥津町史編纂室などで、資料撮影枚数は１万枚を超える。これらの調査によって、これまであまり公にされてこなかった避病院・隔離病舎の資料が多数残存していることが判明した。例えば避病院の運用状況や経費、患者の入院中の状況を記した日誌や、避病院を設置するときに村議会で設置場所について交わされた議論など、避病院・隔離病舎を行政文書からだけでなく多面的に捉えることのできる史料を発掘できたことは大きな成果といえる。それらの成果を学会などで地域ごとに発表していった。しかし、史料の数の多さから、史料の撮影は半分にも到達しておらず、引き続きの撮影は今後の活動の一つとなる。また、多くの史料が残されている地域がある半面、全く残されていない地域もあり、さらには行政側の協力がなかなか得られない箇所もあって、地域的に資料の確認状況に偏りが見られる。これらの偏りの解消を目指していくとともに、得られた情報から文書だけでなく現地調査や聞き取り調査についても行っていく必要がある。

For example, the use of hospitals, expenses, and admission of patients are recorded in journals, hospital settings, village councils, and administrative documents. The results of the study are presented in the following ways: The number of historical materials is too many, the shadow of historical materials is half of the time, the shadow of the introduction is half of the future activities. In addition, the historical data of the region is incomplete, and the regional data of the region is incomplete. This means that information can be obtained from the investigation and the investigation is necessary.
