本年度は本研究の初年度ということで、本研究を進めるに当たり必要な環境を整え、また必要な基礎知識について再確認することに多くの時間を費やした。具体的には、本研究に必要な書籍を多く購入し、これらを読みながら今後の研究の方向性を模索し、それに基づき具体的な研究に着手した。その過程で、本研究には、オクスフォード大学で行われていた研究プロジェクト A Consolidated Library of Anglo-Saxon Poetry の研究成果として公表されているデータベースが非常に有用であるということが分かり、これを用いながら、研究対象である Exeter Book に収録された wisdom poems の言語的、韻律的特徴についてデータを取り、今後の研究の基礎を築くことが出来た。また、これまで研究対象としてきた wisdom poem である Maxims II についての言語的、韻律的特徴と Exeter Book の wisdom poems のそれとの比較から、Maxims II についても新たな知見を得ることが出来たため、次年度以降にこれについての研究成果を発表すべく、論文執筆に着手した。さらには、西洋中世学会における「危機を前にした人間：西洋中世における環境・災害・心性」というシンポジウムにおいて、古英語の wisdom literature の観点から論考を発表した。春季には英国のボードリアン図書館や大英図書館等において写本の調査をしたり資料集をしたりして、次年度以降の研究につながる成果を得ることもできた。

The Western Middle Ages: Environment, Disaster and Nature In the spring, the British Library and the British Library wrote the original survey data set, and in the following year, the results of the research were obtained.
