本研究は、当初の目的に準じて、日本の大学における日本人英語学習者を対象に、学術的な内容を含む英語リーディング学習において、読み手が直面する困難さや疑問点を、仲間および教員を含む話し合いによって解決する指導を通して、英語リーディング力を高める事を目的としている。また、上記の指導法は日本人英語学習者を対象として実践された例が見られず、その点に加えて、本研究分野では比較的新しい構造方程式モデリングを用いた分析手法を用いる点が本研究の新規性と言える。当初の研究目的に従い、令和4年度4月から8月における国内の私立大学における日本人英語学習者73名を対象に、上記の指導法を実施し、質問紙法による調査(探索的因子分析)と英語リーディングテストの結果を含めた分析を行った。分析の結果、質問紙に対する探索的因子分析は5因子構造となり、上記の指導法に関する下位尺度がまとまった一つの因子(第5因子：α = 0.77)として検出され、研究協力者達の間で、上記の指導法に基づく内容が学習において意識的に使用されている事が明らかとなった。また、これらの5つの因子と英語リーディングテストを含めた構造方程式モデリング分析の結果、一つの因子(第2因子)が英語リーディングテストに有意な影響を与え、第5因子は他の因子に正の影響を与えつつ、間接的に英語リーディングテストに影響を与えている結果となり、適合値も許容範囲となった(χ2乗値 = 2.48、自由度 = 8、p値 = 0.96、GFI = 0.98、AGFI = 0.97、RMSEA = 0)。これらの成果がJACET中部支部紀要第20号にて査読付き論文として掲載され、英語教育への還元を一定程度なすことができた。また、上記と同様の研究目的にて、学習者の自己省察を用いた研究結果が令和5年度8月における大学英語教育学会第62回国際大会にて発表の認可をいただいた。
