本年度は、戊辰戦争に至る仙台藩の藩政および軍事の実態を明らかにするため、仙台市博物館所蔵の藩庁日記など仙台藩の基礎史料について入力作業を進めるとともに、そこに記される藩士の人事情報の集積を進めた。こうした基礎作業によって、仙台藩における人事全体の傾向を分析する下地を整えるとともに、軍指揮官クラスの人事について考察を加えた。また、仙台市内外の諸機関が所蔵する仙台藩関連史料について調査し、これまでに得ていた写真データ等と合わせて内容の分析を進めた。具体的には、軍指導者の意見書などについて考察を加えることで、戦争開始時の仙台藩の軍備や、藩主流派である首脳部・渉外担当者と軍指導者との状況認識の相違などについて理解を深めることができた。また、陪臣部隊を派遣した給人に関わる御用留などを分析することで、軍司令部の設置状況を含めて、藩領南部における戦争時の指揮・命令系統の把握を試みた。これら仙台藩の人事・軍編制・軍事指揮については、明治維新史学会大会で研究報告を行い、本研究の方向性や課題を提示した。加えて、奥羽越列藩同盟の体制と仙台藩との関係を考察するため、米沢市・会津若松市・盛岡市・福島市に出向き、博物館・図書館等において各藩の史料を調査した。これらを通して、仙台藩の史料からは確認できなかった仙台藩と奥羽諸藩との政治的・軍事的関係や、仙台藩を含めた列藩同盟軍の指揮系統・意思決定に関わる事例などを確認することができた。
