伊勢貞昌（1570－1641）は薩摩藩（島津氏）の江戸詰家老にして、有職故実家でもあるなど、多様な顔を持つ。本研究では、中近世移行期を生きた伊勢貞昌のような特異な人物を通し、その内面にも踏み込むことで、個人から時代の転換を見つめるという手法をとる。そのため、本年度はまず基礎的な作業として、伊勢貞昌が発給した書状について、東京大学史料編纂所においてマイクロフィルムやデジタル画像を閲覧し、また鹿児島県史料（『旧記雑録』）や他機関所蔵文書（宮崎県総合博物館）からリストアップし、コピーしてWordに打ち込むとともに、宛先や様式などの情報をExcelに整理した。コピーした文書の多くは無年号であるため、おおまかな年次比定を行い、慶長期のもの、元和～寛永前期のもの、寛永後期のもの、と３つに区分した。このように区分することで、伊勢貞昌の略歴をおおむね把握することに成功した。また、伊勢貞昌が相伝を受けた有職故実書のうち、室町殿の御成にかかわる史料を精読し、論点を整理した。同時に、室町期の御成と江戸期の御成でなにが違うか、といった点について、関連書籍、論文を読み、理解を深めた。さらに、先述の伊勢貞昌の書状の整理作業を行うなかで、1点1点を精読し、そこから情報を抽出した。その結果、伊勢貞昌の思想的基盤には「孟子」があり、薩南学派の影響が想定できた。こうした点を論文にまとめ、すでに脱稿し、次年度のはじめに公開する予定である。
