项目摘要

2022年度は初年度であったため、研究の中心は主に先行研究のレビューおよび整理であった。そのため、文献を渉猟し、その精読・分析を行ったが、当初予想された通り、比較政治学におけるポピュリズムに関する研究は大量に存在する一方で、国際関係論にかかわる部分、すなわち、ポピュリスト政権による対外政策にかかわる文献はきわめて少なく、かつあまり体系化されていないことが判明した。また、トランプ政権の貿易政策の特徴について明らかにするため、この分野の文献も渉猟したが、こちらも事実関係を整理したものがほとんどで、あまり理論的な整理はされていないことも判明した。また、他国の政策との比較も若干行ったが、主要国でポピュリスト政権による貿易政策に関する研究はほぼ皆無であった。このように先行研究が乏しいことは本研究の独創性・新規性を如実に示すものである一方、研究の方法については指針となるものが極めて乏しいことも意味しており、今後の研究も決してたやすいものではないことが示唆される。その他、具体的な作業としては、米国の研究者をお招きして研究会を行い、彼らの意見を拝聴する作業を行った。またアウトプットとして、アジア太平洋の貿易レジームに関する論考を執筆した。これは本研究の直接のアウトカムではないものの、貿易政治という点では共通点が多く、その意味では、今後の研究にも有益ではないかと思っている。なお、本論考はある国際ジャーナルで査読を受けている途中であり、その採否は現時点では明らかでない。
