本研究の目的は、企業の財務状況が2種の財市場での競争結果と社会的厚生への影響を分析することで、産業組織論と企業金融論の両分野において新たな理論仮説を提供するとともに、競争政策と企業再建に関する新たな政策的示唆を提供することである。令和4年度は、財務状況を外生とするときの各財市場の競争結果と、財務状況の変化がその結果に及ぼす影響について、解析的に分析を進めた。さらに、当初の財務状況の下での資金調達について内生的に考慮した上で、各財市場の競争結果がどのようになるのか、当初の財務状況の変化がその結果にどのような影響を及ぼすのかについて、Mathematicaを用いた数値シミュレーションという手法で分析を進めた。論文の完成には至っていないものの、現時点での分析結果により、倒産の可能性のある企業は、需要リスクの無い（低い）財の生産を減らし、需要リスクのある（高い）財の生産を増やすこと、この結果は資金調達について内生的に分析しても同様であることなどが示された。以上の結果は、従来の理論研究の結果と実証研究の結果の間の不整合を解消する内容であり、また、潜在的には結果を左右しかねない資金調達の問題を明示的に分析することによって、理論の頑健性を高めるものである。今後はさらに、各財市場の結果が社会的厚生に及ぼす影響と、この結果に影響を及ぼし得る各要因（需要の規模、弾力性、企業数、ボラティリティなど）について、分析を進めていく。これにより、企業の財務状況への介入といった企業再建の取り組みが競争政策上どのような意味を持つのかを解明していく。この分析は、リーマンショック後に発生し、昨今再発が懸念されている金融危機の際の企業再建支援の在り方に関する理論的裏付けを提供するという意義を持つ。
