日本では、人口減少と高齢化の進展に伴い、対外収支の中心が貿易から投資に移行しつつある。こうした中、海外資産からの収益力強化による成長を継続するために、証券投資におけるホーム・バイアス（国内資産投資への偏向）の解消および対外直接投資の規模拡大の必要性が提言されている。しかし、高齢者は生産年齢人口に比べ、介護やヘルスケアなどの非貿易財をより多く消費するため、高齢人口の増加が、非貿易財に対する需要を増大させ、これが、自国の実質為替相場の水準やボラティリティを変化させる結果、ホーム・バイアスの解消や対外直接投資の規模拡大に影響を与える可能性がある。本研究は、高齢人口の増加による非貿易財需要の増大が、実質為替相場の水準やボラティリティの変化を通じ、ホーム・バイアスの程度（対外証券投資）と対外直接投資へ与える影響を考察することで、対外資産の収益力の強化について政策的インプリケーションを導出する。本年度は、申請者卓は分担者熊本と協働し、高齢化の進展が実質為替相場の水準やボラティリティに与える影響を分析した。理論分析においては、Groneck and Kaufmann (2016)のモデルを、貿易財部門と非貿易財部門という二部門の存在と、非貿易財により大きな選好を持つ老年世代の存在を考慮した世代重複モデルに拡張し、高齢化の進展が、実質為替相場の水準に与える影響を分析した。さらに、貿易財部門と非貿易財部門の生産性に確率過程を想定し、生産性ショックが実質為替相場のボラティリティに与える影響が、高齢化の進展に伴い、どのように変化するかを分析した。一方、実証分析においては、データ・セットの構築を行い、また、先行研究を踏まえつつ、分析方法などを検討した。

Japan's population shortage and high growth are accompanied by the shift of foreign investment and trade. This paper discusses the necessity of increasing the scale of foreign direct investment and the elimination of the bias of domestic asset investment.
