本研究は科研費基盤(C)「戦前期日本における洋式消費財産業の展開―タオル製造業 稲岡商店の事例に即して」（代表：佐々木淳）同様、明治期に創業されたタオル製造業・稲岡商店の経営文書「稲岡工業株式会社文書」の分析を行う。そのため同研究と同じく、地域の人々で運営されている同文書保存会の協力を得て、(1)同文書の整理・保存、(2)史料調査の実施、(3)保存会主催のイベントに講師・協力者として参加することを続けながら、研究対象とする時期を戦間期まで延長した。(1)については、今年度に第一冊目の目録集『「稲岡工業株式会社文書」目録集（一）』を印刷した。「稲岡工業株式会社文書」はもともと『加古川市史』編纂時に一部が加古川市史編さん専門委員会編『稲岡工業株式会社文書目録』として目録化されていたが、それ以外に大量の史料が未整理のまま残されていた。今回はそのうちの一部を新たに目録化することができたほか、未整理の帳簿類についても倉庫から運び出し、目録作成が可能な状態に整えた。今後は残りの史料のおおまかな点数を把握して総目録完成に至る道筋を確認しながら、引き続き目録化を進める予定である。(2)の史料調査については、ほとんどのメンバーが2から4回の調査を実施した。史料分析の結果については、渡辺が輸出雑貨工業の海外情報の獲得について、稲岡商店と三井物産・東興洋行との関係を中心に、武漢大学で開催されたオンライン研究会で報告を行った。また保存会の機関紙『わたの里通信誌』第9号に研究協力者を含む4名が寄稿し、それぞれが研究遂行中に発見した稲岡商店に関連する史料や事象を紹介した。(3)7月に開催された市民向けワークショップ「わたの里の記録」は第一冊目の目録集のお披露目会となり、保存会および科研費共同研究のこれまでのあゆみを振り返る座談会を行った。研究協力者を含む4名が参加した。
