本研究では、第二次世界大戦前から欧米企業との競争下で端緒的に行われた日本のオーストラリア工業製品輸出の経験が、1957年の日豪通商協定締結後に本格化する日本工業製品輸出にどのように引き継がれていったのかを検討することで、日本メーカーによる海外市場開拓の過程を段階的にとらえることを目的とする。その際、本研究では、海外市場開拓に際して障害となる現地市場情報の獲得や流通網の整備などで重要な役割を果たした商社の機能にも注目する。以上の研究課題を解明するため、本研究では戦前にオーストラリア政府が適性資産として接収した企業史料を活用するとともに、広くオーストラリアで公開されている企業史料を活用する。とりわけ前者の企業史料では通常、史料的制約から第三者ではうかがい知ることが難しい、海外市場開拓に際してのメーカーと商社の間の生々しい実態が判明する。また、後者の資料収集に際しては、オーストラリア出身の研究代表者の人的ネットワークによって、オーストラリア、ニュージーランド、南洋群島など、日本＝オーストラリア関係史を検討する上で必要となる海外の関連図書館、美術館の図書館員、アーカイブ担当者、キュレーターと密接な関係をもとに広域での資料収集が可能となる。このように本研究組織は、オーストラリアの経済・史料状況に詳しい研究代表者と、日本国内に所蔵される企業史料に精通した研究分担者が相互に知見を補いつつ、国内外で広くその成果を問うことで、視野の広い研究成果の構築を目指す。研究初年度となる本年度は、第一に、今後の分析と前提となる資料整理を進めるとともに、第二に、戦前期における大倉組の東海電極製人造黒鉛電極の豪州輸出と同じく戦前期の三菱商事の日産制ダットサン自動車の豪州輸出の分析に関して、海外報告の準備に向けた研究のとりまとめを進めた。

This study aims to explore the development of overseas markets in Japan after the conclusion of the Japan-Japan Trade Agreement in 1957. At the same time, this study focuses on the acquisition of local market information and the preparation of circulation network during overseas market development. The above research topics are explained in detail. This research focuses on the utilization of enterprise historical data in the past. The former enterprise historical materials are usually restricted by historical materials, the third party is difficult to understand, and the overseas market development is difficult to determine. The data collection of the latter is necessary for overseas related libraries, art museum staff, media personnel, and close relationships among research representatives. This research organization is dedicated to the research of historical materials, research representatives, experts in corporate historical materials in Japan, and research contributors who are familiar with each other.
