初年度は、日本企業（1,631社）の最新データに基づき、「サーキュラー・エコノミー（CE）」の達成に不可欠な「次世代型CSV経営（CSV事業の刷新・高度化）」の規定要因に関する分析を実施し、論文としてまとめた（査読付）。産業再編といった大きな枠組みに関する議論は重要であるものの、具体的な制度設計の検討として、企業レベルのミクロデータを用い、CE達成度と経営体制の関連性を分析した点が、学術的な貢献である。具体的には、「各社のCSV分類（CE条件の達成度に応じた、企業のCSV事業実績の分類）」と、「人材の多様性と包摂性（Diversity & Inclusion）・社外団体との連携・働き方改革・インセンティブ制度・学習機会・社内での情報提供・対外活動・機関投資家との対話」を含む調査項目との因果関係に着目し、産業別に「次世代型CSV」の促進要因・阻害要因と、その解消方策を示した。被説明変数として、CE達成に資する各社の「次世代型CSV経営」のスコアを用いており、このスコアは、CE水準である３ Principles (1. 廃棄物・汚染を出さない設計、2. 質を急劣化させず、製品や原料を使い続ける高持続性のシステム、3. 自然システムの再生）に該当する20種類の変数を用いて算出した。つまり、高いスコアは、CSV経営等を実践中であり、それと同時にCE水準も満たす状態を表す。さらに、（各事業の社会的価値・意義を従業員に浸透させる）「社会的価値の波及メカニズム」について、事業を通じた社会課題の解決または、社会貢献活動に関与する「対象従業員の範囲」といった項目を踏まえ、考察を加えた。
