今年度は、韓国における小売企業のDXに関する実態を調査するために、２回にわたって現地の企業を訪ね、関係者にインタビューを行ってきた。主としてロッテを対象に、多様な小売業態の企業がそれぞれ行なってきたDXの内容について聞き取り調査を実施するとともに、現場を確認することができた。各企業はデジタル環境の変化が著しく生じた四、五年前から危機感を感じ、DXの組織的な対応に力を注いてきた。内部にあるDX資源を活用することもあったが、多くは外部の人材や技術を取り入れることにより、新たなDX革新を試みた。ただし、DXの革新が必ずしも順調に進められたわけではないことが確認できた。既存の組織と新しい外部の人材が融合しながら新しいDXの課題を解決することは容易なことではなかった。多くの企業ではDXをよりスピーディに進めるためにDXリーダーシップという新たな課題を抱えるようになった。既存のIT部門のシステム中心の解決策は新しいDX課題をより強力に押し進めることに限界があった。DXのために、既存のIT部門には欠如していたよりクリエートでしかも大胆な取り組みを必要としていたのであった。DXに必要な新しいDNAは外部から専門家を採用することで可能となった。さらに既存の組織にも溶け込むより柔軟でスマートなリーダーシップをもった人物であれば、より順調に成果を上げていたことが分かった。なお、新しく採用した外部のDX専門家に対するCEOやオーナーの信頼とサポートがDXの持続と成果に深く関わることが確認できた。
