北関東農村部の家継承の現状と課題を壮年世代の視線から理解することを目指しているため、村落研究の視点および、移住者の意識について等を扱う、先行研究の検討を進めた。日本においても都市移住者の研究からは、出身地とのつながり方の議論がなされており、そこで提起されている「離れながら繋がる」スタイルは確認できた。なお、それらの議論においては、その新しいスタイルが、家の継承と関連つけては検討されていない。また、それらの研究は、圧倒的に男性壮年世代の議論となっており、ジェンダーの視点が欠けていると言わざるを得ない状況であることも明確である。そのため、次年度の調査では、壮年世代は何を家と捉えて、継ごうとしているのか、何を切り離そうとしているのか／切り離さざるを得ないのか、などは、今後聞き取りをすべきテーマとして浮上している。欧米の文献において、相互作用の視点から質的に農村居住者の生活にアプローチした研究が確認できている。そこにも、従来日本の研究で見落とされがちであったヨーロッパの伝統家族における家の継承／家の閉じ方に関連する議論があるため、それらの精査をすすめている。欧米の研究でもこの分野ではジェンダーの視点は希薄なものの、調査対象を夫婦にすることで、伝統的に男性に偏ってきた議論の是正が可能となっている。そうした研究スタイルも参照すべき点として把握することができた。また予備調査は実施できなかったが、調査実施に向けて、機材を整えるなどハード面の準備は進めることができた。
