超高齢多死社会において、地域全体で看取りの充実が急務の課題となっている。特別養護老人ホームは、高齢者の生活の場であるとともに、人生の最終段階を支えており、高齢者の看取りにおいて介護職員の果たす役割はますます重要になっている。介護職員には、日常生活の援助とともに、穏やかな死を迎えられるような看取り介護の実践が期待されている。一方、高齢者の死に向き合う介護職員は、ストレスや不安感、喪失感や疲労感などを経験していると報告されている。介護職員にとって、高齢者の死と向き合うことは、ストレス度の高い経験であり、介護職員に対する教育支援体制の構築は、より質の高い看取り介護の提供のために必要不可欠であると考える。質の高い看取りを提供するためには、介護職員自身が介護の仕事に満足感や、やりがいといった肯定的感情を得ることが必要であり、自己の成長を実感できるような教育的支援が求められる。本研究は、特別養護老人ホームの調査により、看取りの実態と介護職員に対する教育的介入の視点を明らかにすることを目的としている。令和４年度は、文献検討から、特別養護老人ホームにおける看取りについて、施設側と介護職員側から、その実態と課題を明らかにした。この結果から、調査枠組み、調査項目の検討を行った。
