本研究は，文化としての日本の伝統工芸の学習を通して伝統・文化の継承と創造を担う生徒の文化的資質能力を育成することができる美術教師教育のカリキュラムの編成を目的とする。2022年度は第１段階として課題の理解のため，美術科教員養成コースの学生を対象に身近な伝統工芸の授業を２つ実施し，授業実施後にそれぞれの参加者の伝統文化への興味関心についての質問紙調査を実施した。初めに2022年7月に伝統工芸の授業と質問紙調査を実施した。全ての学生が日本の伝統工芸に興味・関心があると回答した。また，全員が日本の伝統工芸について学校で学ぶ機会は必要であると回答しており，理由としては文化の継承が最も多く，その他に自国について知る，学習の機会の提供などの回答があった。実施した授業で扱った組紐については，授業用に簡易にした活動であったものの，興味関心を持って取り組むことができていた。工芸と純粋美術の分離の課題に関しての問いでは，学生は伝統工芸を美術と理解していた。時代を経て様々に作られてきた伝統工芸に関しては，伝統を守るという点だけでなく，発展や創造に注目していた。実際に作る活動に関しては，手作りであり，黙々と集中して取り組むという点に魅力を感じていた。次に2022年11月には教員養成コースにおいて文化をテーマにした授業を展開した。日本の美術文化について学ぶ学習単元では，アラバマ大学との共同授業と伝統工芸の鑑賞と表現の授業を実施した。異文化理解の視点を取り入れることで，深い学びに繋がった。授業後の質問紙調査の結果は、7月に実施した調査の結果とほぼ同じであった。本年度実施した調査からは，参加者の伝統工芸への興味関心は高く，伝統工芸を新たに出会う美術文化として捉えているということがわかった。文化遺産教育の意義の理解が狭義であり，現代的課題としての視点の欠如などの問題は，今後のカリキュラム開発で検討したい。
