本研究では，病気療養児の復学に対し、周りの専門家が復学支援の主体となるのではなく，当事者や地元校をエンパワメントし，当事者が主体となって復学を進めていく新たなシステム構築を目的とし，そのシステムを構成する「復学応援計画」や「当事者参加型復学支援会議」「ICT 活用等による地元校との交流及び共同学習」の内容・方法等を当事者ニーズに基づき確定することを目的とした。2022年度は、病気療養児・保護者及び地元校関係者等を対象に、インタビュー調査を行い，グラウンデッド・セオリー・アプローチやＫＪ法といった質的分析により得られた結果に基づき，次年度以降，病気療養児の復学支援において実装可能な様式等の案を作成することとした。実績としては、当事者21人に対し、インタビュー調査を行った。その結果、例えば、復学支援のためのICTを活用した交流及び共同学習に対するインタビューでは、回答者21名中「賛成」との回答は16名，「概ね賛成」は5名と，対象者すべてが肯定的な回答であった。「賛成」の理由としては，「地元校とのつながりの確保」「学習の継続」「復学への意欲と治療への前向きな態度の涵養」といった本人にとっての効果への期待が挙げられた。また，「利便性の高いコミュニティツール」「移動に要するデメリットの解消」といったICTのもつ利便性も挙げられた。「概ね賛成」の理由として，「基本的に賛成」と回答しながらも，「当事者の心情次第」「地元校の児童生徒のニーズ」「地元校の体制整備が前提」「アナログな方法との併用」といった課題が指摘された。一方で、その他のデータ分析及び、その結果に基づいた復学支援に係るフォーマット等の案の作成までには至らなかった。
