初年度の研究計画に基づき，まず当該年度予算で購入したカメラ内蔵ヘッドマウントディスプレイを立ち上げ，ユーザ視点のカメラ映像を取得できるようにした。また，模擬的なペーパーテスト受験環境を作り，上記装置を利用してテスト受験時の模擬映像（自己顔画像取得後，視界にテスト用記号・テキスト画像が入ってくる動画）を作成した。上記をデータとして行うことができる（１）鏡映顔画像認識に基づいたユーザ認証，（２）ユーザ視点動画像内の記号・文字情報認識・検知機能の動作テストを行った。認識に用いるAIフレームワークとしてTensorflowを採用し，Tensorflowの高速化に用いることができる安価なエッジAIハードウェア・アクセラレータとして，各社マイコンと組合せて使用できる汎用性の高い Google Coral USB Accelerator を選択，使用した。（１）の目的のために，Tensorflow上で顔画像認識モデルを作成し，自己の鏡映画像を鏡映反転させたものを認識させられることを確かめた。（２）の目的で用いるカンニング防止機能の要となるシーン内記号・文字認識を行うためのアルゴリズムとしては，高速で知られる YOLO を選択した。上記アクセラレータで高速化されるエッジ AI フレームワーク（Tensorflow Lite）上で動作する YOLO モデルを動作させ，ハードウェア・アクセラレータによる高速化の度合いを計測したところ，動画像の一般的なフレームレートを越える毎秒50フレームを処理可能であることを確かめることができた。開発されるシステムが備えるべき基本機能の現行ハードウェアでの動作検証を行えたことは，システムの実現に向けての重要な中間目標を達成したと言うことができる。
