本研究は，地域在住高齢者の前頭葉機能の維持・促進をねらいとした神経心理学的な認知介入プログラムを開発し，その効果を行動及び近赤外分光法(NIRS)による脳血流データの両側面から検討することを目的とした．2022年度は，神経心理学的なアプローチによる前頭葉機能の訓練プログラムを開発する研究1及び，本研究で実施する認知介入の効果を測定するためのNIRS課題を開発する研究2に着手した．研究1では，前頭葉機能のうちワーキングメモリと実行機能の2つをとりあげ，これらを促進させるための対面プログラムと在宅プログラムの開発に着手した．対面プログラムについては，包括的な神経心理学的リハビリテーションをモデルとして，認知機能低下への気づき，認知訓練に対するレディネス・動機づけの向上，社会的機能の促進をねらいとした集団訓練を開発することとした．具体的には，標的とする認知機能の特徴や発達的変化，認知機能低下の防御因子などを扱った心理教育課題，リラクゼーション訓練，注意制御訓練を盛り込んだ集団訓練プログラムを認知行動療法の技法を活用しながら開発していく．一方，在宅プログラムでは，インターネットを利用したテレリハビリテーション(テレリハ)型の個別訓練プログラムを開発することとし，これに際しては研究代表者が高次脳機能障害者を対象としたテレリハ研究で作成した前頭葉機能の訓練プログラムを高齢者向けに修正して利用することとした．研究2では，実行機能(反応抑制)を評価するための2つのNIRS課題(空間的ストループ課題，後出しじゃんけん課題)を開発し，大学生を対象に予備データを収集した．両課題ともに反応抑制と関連した前頭前野の活動の増大が観察されたが，反応抑制の程度が低すぎても高すぎても課題と関連した前頭葉の活動が抑制されることから，参加者の適性に合った難易度を適切に設定することの重要性が浮き彫りとなった．
