過剰適応とは，社会や文化といった外的環境に過度に適応し，その結果として自己の内的安定性が損なわれた状態を指す。過剰適応により過剰労働に陥る原因として，他者からの承認を得，拒否されないようにするための外発的側面と仕事を完全に仕上げたいという内発的側面が考えられる。令和4年度は，過剰適応状態尺度の下位因子である外発的側面（他者からの拒否回避・自己犠牲的労働）と内発的側面（ワーカホリック，完璧な仕事遂行）に及ぼす完全主義の影響に関する検討を行った。完全主義は，自ら完全であろうとする自己指向的完全主義と他者から完全性が求められていると認識している社会規定的完全主義の二側面から測定した。企業等に就労する労働者1118名（男性539名，女性574名，無回答5名，平均年齢40.26歳）を対象に，ウェブ調査を実施した。過剰適応状態尺度と成人用過剰適応傾向尺度は確認的因子分析を行い，下位因子の構成が妥当であることを確認した。自己志向的完全主義と社会規定的完全主義はそれぞれ主成分分析を行い，因子負荷量の高い項目のみを用いた。完全主義から過剰適応傾向を介して過剰適応状態の下位因子に及ぼす影響過程は，共分散構造分析により検討した。その結果，過剰適応の外発的側面である他者からの拒否回避と自己犠牲的労働は，完全主義（自己志向的・社会規定的）から過剰適応傾向の下位因子である評価懸念・強迫性格を介して援助要請への躊躇を経て，促進されることがわかった。また，過剰適応の内発的側面であるワーカホリックは，過剰適応傾向の全ての因子が媒介して促進されることがわかった。一方，完璧な仕事遂行は，完全主義から援助要請への躊躇と強迫性格を媒介して促進されていた。このように，下位因子によって過剰適応状態の規定因が異なることが明らかになった。
