従来の荷物配送における箱詰め問題は積載率最大化を取り扱っていた。本研究では，荷物の末端輸送で問題となっている荷物積み降ろし作業の効率化のため，荷物を積み付ける順序をも考慮し荷物積み下ろし作業手数を低減するための積み付けについての研究を行っている。本研究でのその荷物積み付けに関する研究では，荷物配達途中に積み下ろしを阻害する荷物（以下，阻害荷物）の配達中の荷台内での移動は無視し，配達に出発する前の積み付け完了時点で積み付け状態を評価する，予定積み替え総個数という積み付け指標を用いることを考えている。これは，途中の阻害荷物の移動を考慮すると阻害荷物の再配置が必要になり問題が複雑になり過ぎて求解することが極めて困難になるためであるが，この指標による積み付け状態の評価が妥当か否かの検証が必要と考えた。そこで，積み下ろし作業者の作業範囲をも考慮した上で，積み下ろし時に発生する荷物の移動手数を調べ，現実に発生する阻害荷物の移動を考えた積み付け状態の評価を令和4年度に検証した。その結果，予定積み替え総個数と発生する荷物の移動させるための手数とには0.4程度の正の相関があることが確認できた。すなわち，予定積み替え総個数によって積み付け状態を評価することが，概ね妥当であることが確認でき，令和5年度以降の本研究の進行において積み付け時の予定積み替え総個数指標を用いることで現実の配達の手数からさほど乖離せず，評価指標として使用して良いことが確認できた。
