1) フクギの老木・巨木の健康診断基準の開発と危険木の可視化本年度は沖縄本島本部町備瀬集落におけるフクギ屋敷林の毎木調査を行った。前年度の測量作業を継続し、約12,800本のフクギの測定結果を得られた。その中、胸高直径が20㎝以上のフクギが2,800本あった。樹木医と琉球大の共同作業により、フクギの健康状態をチェックし、記録・評価した。簡易なフクギ老木・巨木健康チェック基準を開発した。健康状態を「健全」「葉の異常」「病害虫」「一部枯損」「枯死寸前」「枯死」などのランクに分け、備瀬のフクギ巨木の健康状態の独自判断基準を作成した。ほとんどのフクギが健全であったが、開口空洞、樹皮欠損、ガジュマルなどの着生、ワイヤ巻き込みなどの問題があるフクギも多数にあった。すぐに処置すべきものと用観察ものマップを作成、緊急対応を行い、フクギ景観の美化活動を行った。２）アンケート調査並びにヒアリング調査によって住民意識調査を行った。石垣島白保集落にて住民意識を行っている。令和５年度まで継続する予定である。３）意識啓発ワークショップの開催。フクギ染め物ワークショップを琉球大学農学部にて開催した。小学生及び琉大学生、留学生を対象としたワークショップを開催した。今後は、備瀬区に保有するフクギ屋敷林の現状、それの管理方法について、区民ワークショップを開催する。４）フクギの苗木づくり。大学の苗畑にて2,000粒のフクギ種を令和4年9月に撒き、3月までは出芽率は50％であった。フクギ種の出芽率に関して、令和5、6年度は、継続実験を行う予定である。
